Tambayan

It was a scorching afternoon when I found myself in Katipunan, hoping to get my wife’s AirPods fixed. Unfortunately, the shop told me they’ve stopped servicing AirPods since last year—wala na raw silang parts. They advised me to go straight to an Apple Service Center.

Since I was already in Loyola Heights, nostalgia hit. I passed by Xavierville and instantly remembered our college tambay spots. Back in the day, we were OGs at places like Meatshop and Chicken Boy—we even claimed we started the whole gimikan scene there! It used to be just one table where we’d share beers and plates of isaw.

We went there so often that we got to know Ate, the tindera. Later on, when life got a little better, we leveled up to Caffeigne, run by Mr. G. One of my best buds, Popo, used to work there part-time, so it became our new hangout. These places were more than just spots to eat or drink—they were where we built core memories with friends. Nakaka-miss din talaga.

Kayo—saan ang ultimate tambayan ninyo with your tropa? Let me know in the comments! Would love to hear your stories too.
